Assembly Process Engineer
Job Summary
Serve as a technical expert in assembly processes, responsible for developing and optimizing assembly of complex components to meet quality, efficiency, and cost objectives. This role requires strong knowledge of error‑proofing methods, robotic automation, and bilingual communication skills (English/Mandarin) are preffered to reduce defects and support collaboration with global technical teams.
Key Responsibilities
Process Development
Define and refine assembly parameters (e.g., torque, press force) through structured experiments to achieve high first‑pass yield.
Optimize fixture and tooling designs using CAD/CAE tools to ensure stability, ergonomics, and repeatability.
Equipment & Automation
Lead commissioning and integration of automated equipment and robotic systems, including vision inspection and servo‑controlled stations, to reach target equipment effectiveness.
Validate new production equipment during trials and provide improvement feedback before full release.
Quality Control
Apply statistical process control techniques and capability analysis to monitor key characteristics and maintain consistent quality.
Lead structured root‑cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions.
New Project Support
Provide design‑for‑manufacturability input, participate in risk analyses, and support product and process qualification for new programs.
Continuous Improvement
Implement error‑proofing solutions such as sensors and interlocks and lead Lean or Six Sigma activities to improve yield and reduce waste.
Collaboration & Training
Address customer and internal quality concerns with clear technical reports and action plans, and train shop‑floor teams on standardized work and procedures.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or a closely related engineering discipline.
Experience: 3+ years in assembly process or manufacturing engineering; experience with high‑volume or electronics/module assembly is a plus.
Certifications: Six Sigma Green Belt, IATF 16949 Auditor, PMP preferred.
Skills:
Proficient with 3D CAD tools and data analysis/visualization software; capable of bilingual communication for global collaboration.
Strong knowledge of robotic automation, assembly tooling, and error‑proofing concepts.
Attributes: Analytical, hands‑on problem solver who can thrive in fast‑paced, production‑driven environments.
Additional Information
Willingness to support extended hours during trials, launches, or critical production events.
